Her car has broken down.
Mrs Grey's car is the High Street. Tim know the way. It won't take him long to get there.
He climbs into his breakdown truck, starts the engine and drives off.
Tim steers through the busy traffic, looking out for Mrs Grey and her red car.
Tim opens the bonnet and looks inside. He shakes his head.
'I can't mend it here, 'he says.
'your car will have to go to the garage, 'Tim says.
'But what about our party?' cries Sue.
'We must get the cakes home,' Bill adds. Tim smiles. 'Simple! I'll put your car onto my breakdown truck.'
Tim gets into the cab and stats to winch Mrs Gery's car up the ramp onto the breakdown truck.
The twins watch eagerly.
'There,' says Tim, 'I'll have it fixed in no time at all.'
Mrs Grey and the twins climb into the cab with Tim. But when Tim tries to start the engine. . .
. . .there is a horrible grinding noise. The engine won't go. Tim's breakdown truck has broken down.
'Oh dear!' says Mrs Grey.
'What can we do now?'
Bill and sue try not to cry.
'Cheer up!' says Tim. 'I'll go and phone the garage.'
There is a telephone nearby.
Very soon a second breakdown truck drives up. It is a brand-new one and Ann is at the wheel.
Meanwhile Tim has bad an idea.
'Don't worry, twins,' he says.
'We may still get you home in time.'
Tim and Ann quickly fix a tow- rope to the front of Tim's truck. As they work Tim tells Ann his plan.
Bill gets into Ann's truck. Sue climbs into Tim's truck wity Mrs Grey and the cakes.
They all drive off.
'this isn't the way to the garage,' Bill says. 'This is the way home!'
Ann smiles. Yes,' she says. 'Tim thought as it's your birthday we would take you home first.'
The children are home just in time.
'Goodbye! Happy Birthday! We'll have your car ready by tomorrow!' Everyone waves to Tim and Ann.
'Goodbye, breakdown trucks! Thank you for saving our party!'
